Hi all! Been a LONG time since I've posted here, how's everyone doin? Not seeing all that many "old" faces in the recent posts.

Anyways... I stuck with CQ's old "one plane swing" for quite a few years and whittled down to a 2 HC. Then last season I changed a couple things and (coincidentally?) ended up with something very much like this newer RST swing. After watching a few of the free vids, it's pretty funny that I'm doing a lot of the same things. Arm working more "up" on the backswing, engaging the glutes, etc...

Problem is that I overcook the weight shift and now have way too many moving parts for me to play consistently. So recently at the range I've been working on a couple of Sean Foley's moves that he's been implementing into Tiger's swing; and also been watching Sean O'hair and Hunter Mahan a lot. He's not a S&T guy as many people seem to mistake. He doesn't want all the weight forward at the start, just some, but doesn't want much of a move off the ball going back. It's kept me much more centered and on top of the ball and I'm really crisping it (it's off mats though, so yeah...).

I guess I'm just wondering what people here think of his philosophy, and how it can work along with the RST model. Perhaps overcooking his moves could get too much of a S&T thing going, but maybe somewhere between that and CQ's weight shift could be ideal for me?

My impression of watching CQ demo and describe the weight shift is that it is a fairly small move.  If thinking in a S&T mode helps you control your body and results in the desired weight shift then that's what you need to do.  Results are what we are all seeking here.  The mental picture is whatever required to achieve that.  IMHO
