One Planer finished 3rd in the Championship Flight on rounds of 72-70-76 218 (2 over par).  The winner shot 68-70-74 212 (4 under).  The second place finisher shot 71-72-74 217.  Both of those guys are long hitting 30somethings.  There were 20 players in the flight with handicaps of 3 or less.  I was a little disappointed, but the result was not too bad for a 64 year old codger.

My putting deserted me during the final round yesterday, two three putts from short range and several missed birdie putts in the 10 ft. category.  The winner deserved the title.  He controlled his ball very well during the two rounds I was paired with him, especially in the 10-20 mph gusting winds yesterday.

Congratulations, one-planer.  Glad to see we old folks can still play with the "young whippersnappers"!  I may not be able to hit it 300 yds. anymore, but when my one-plane swing is on and my putter is working, I've got a chance against almost anybody! Keep it in the short grass!

An eighty-year-old man's golf game was hampered by poor eyesight. He could hit the ball well but he couldn't see where it went. So his doctor teamed him up with a ninety-year-old man who had perfect eyesight and was willing to go along to serve as a spotter.

The eighty-year-old man hit the first ball and asked his companion if he saw where it landed.

"Yep," said the ninety-year-old.

"Where did it go?" the eighty-year-old demanded.

The ninety-year old replied, "I don't remember."

A young man who was also an avid golfer found himself with a few hours to spare one afternoon. He figured if he hurried and played very fast, he could get in nine holes before he had to head home. Just as he was about to tee off an old gentleman shuffled onto the tee and asked if he could accompany the young man as he was golfing alone. Not being able to say no, he allowed the old gent to join him.

To his surprise the old man played fairly quickly. He didn't hit the ball far, but plodded along consistently and didn't waste much time. Finally, they reached the 9th fairway and the young man found himself with a tough shot. There was a large pine tree right in front of his ball - and directly between his ball and the green.

After several minutes of debating how to hit the shot the old man finally said, "You know, when I was your age I'd hit the ball right over that tree."

With that challenge placed before him, the youngster swung hard, hit the ball up, right smack into the top of the tree trunk and it thudded back on the ground not a foot from where it had originally lay.

The old man offered one more comment, "Of course, when I was your age that pine tree was only three feet tall."

Planer,

Great play, you old codger!!  You inspire me, brother.  Those are some credible scores in competition.

What club do you belong to that has 20 players with handicaps of 3, or less?  That is some great competition.

Play well and pick it off the floor and lift it overhead.

We do have a lot of good players at my club, Hayes.  That's probably because we have two excellent courses and some really good competition.  There's always a game, usually three groups or more playing skins and nassaus.  We don't play for a lot of money, but everyone plays hard every time out.  My club hosted a Champions Tour event until this year when the tournament lost its sponsor.  The name of my club is Egypt Valley Country Club.  It's an odd name for a golf club, but it comes from the name of the road that runs past one end of it.
