Iowa has always had a nice amateur tournament schedule. The 2006 schedule is out. I'm going to try to play the Herman Sani and Briarwood Amateur. I may also try the Northwest Amateur. I'm also playing a smaller amateur event May 21 in Newton, Iowa. I haven't played a competitive event in 15 years so it should be an adventure. These tournaments are nice because no handicap is required. Just tee it up and play. If anyone is interested in meeting up at one of those tournaments just drop me a PM.

Fly,

Good luck. You know if you win these tournaments, everybody's gonna want to know your secret. Any credit to OPS and CQ in the acceptance speeches? Plus you will be a marked man!

Fly,

You will do just fine.  Nothing more than doing your daily Body Drills in front of the mirror.  "Look ma, no arms."

I played in my first competitve tournaments 3 years ago at the ripe young age of 51.  A few growing pains early on, but I settled in nicely and last year played in half a dozen events.  I have circled at least 10 USGA, NJ and South Jersey events for this season, with the first coming in late April.

Fly and Hayes-

Good luck.  My pro has often hinted the only true way to test  your game is to play in comp.  When the pressure is really on line.

I admire both of you and keep us posted.
