My buddy and I played in the South Jersey Golf Assoc. Two-man Better Ball Tournament yesterday comprised of 49 teams.  We shot 1-under and finished 5th. We had 3 birdies (I had two) but bogeyed two holes including a bad one where I was hitting a SW 2nd shot.  It does happen when you miss a 4 footer.  It was close to 100* but low humidity and a refreshing  breeze blowing off the Delaware River saved the day.

This was my first outing since a big meltdown back in an April qualifier that led to some swing changes.  I was very pleased as I stepped to the 1st tee and just clocked a long high nice little fade down the fairway with the big dog.  Not one stinking hook all day and the worst shots I hit were a driver left into a hazard as I setup for a fade and hit it straight and I held onto a 5-iron and hit it into junk on a par-3.  My putting and short game continues  to be very good, but I was disappointed in my short iron play that was less than stellar.

Overall, I am very pleased as I hit lots of fairways with my nemesis, the driver, and the nerves were very under control considering my play in my last outing back in April was very erratic.  My reworked swing held up very well all day.

Great to hear, Hayes. I'm glad you've got your driver issues under control right now. Makes the game so much easier, eh?

I totally resonate with your short iron issues too, as my game yesterday in similar conditions(90*+ in the UK!) was goodfrom the tee, but, mmm, dodgy with the short sticks.

swing well; think well,

Dean

5th is a darn good result for you and your partner, Hayes.  I'm sure that event would have drawn a pretty strong field.  Sounds like your grip and swing changes are starting to fall into place.  One of these days, it's all going to click and you're going to shoot "lights out".
