To me, the general theme behind the transition between the backswing and the downswing is to load the shaft with flex, or potential energy.  Loading the shaft with flex is visible evidence that the body pivot is indeed ahead of the arms and hands.  And most likely, no one loads a shaft better than Tiger Woods...except maybe the ghost of Ben Hogan.  Ben Hogan was able to carry a loaded shaft into impact with an iron or a driver.  Holding the shaft flex into impact is evidence that the whip hasn't already cracked and that the body turn hasn't stalled, so to speak.  In essence, you may still have some arm and body travel left but if you 'crack the whip' before impact the potential energy stored in the shaft has already been expended and power has indeed leaked.
Look at the difference between two different swings from Tiger Woods.  The one on the left is from a practice session in 2009 and the one on the right I am not sure of.  The difference is huge and I doubt the 2 different shafts are that far apart in stiffness.

But those are camera issues, the shaft doesn't bend like that.

Check you are correct, it is not the shaft it is an optical illusion....nothing more.

I posted the one of TW on the left and if you look at the bend of the shaft it is up and down not forward or back. What you see on the pic on the left was a camera issue...nothing more. I posted other videos I got from the same source from other players and you will see the same thing.

The one on the right was video taped off of someones TV.

Wow, talk about being wrong.  If that is the case then I have to admit I stand corrected...and case closed because I don't have the technical knowledge to dispute the info on 'rolling shutter image sensors' (who does anyway).  I was operating under the impression that if it was a blurred image then it would be suspect (like my avatar) but not if it appeared as a well-defined frame.   Thanks for the info tuporaqui

check,

I can speak from experience with video cameras and recording golf swings, the image on the left is definitely a camera issue.  This is exactly why I still use a camera that records on mini dv tapes for analyzing swings.

I don't know where I got that link, if it was here or another forum. I saw it with my phone camera too. Look at this photo of Ross Fisher, I think it was taken by Ian Poulter with his iphone:

That's a wonderful article and great explanation. Thanks for posting it.  I wonder what the increase in manufacturing cost is to have the "read" and "reset" signal applied to all rows at the same time.

Okay, now that has to be the definitive example of this phenomenon. That's hilarious.
