I was just curious what our ball position should be for putting, chipping/pitching, and bunker shots using RST?

I've experimented with adding a little axis tilt and moving the ball position to just forward of the logo on my shirt while putting and get a better roll and am more consistent. I was wondering if the same RST ball position fundamentals apply to other short game shots as well, since it makes sense anatomically?

pmw85,

I will answer this one in some detail a bit later this eve for you.  Everything I will discuss is from Chuck's short game dvd which is an excellent addition for the New Year!

pmw85,

I am going to direct my response to this question a bit differently than I originally suggested, due to the fact I do not want to confuse the forum given the variables that exist in each individuals stance width, foot position, etc.  I think the written word would could be misinterpreted in this case.  I will answer your question by stating the number 1 fault I see with students is playing all of their  chips, bunker shots, and putts too far back in their stance.  In chipping this decreases the loft too much and gives you unpredictable spin, for bunker shots it will cause your attack angle to be too steep, and for putting it gets the ball bouncing instead of tumbling.  I would suggest Chuck's Short Game dvd which goes into great detail and can provide you with the necessary visual reinforcement to insure you master the fundamentals of the short game.

HEY AL!

2010 is here and I'm getting prepped for the South American tour (TLA) and the Hooters again! this is EXACTLY what i've been working on for my short game. Better predictability with spin and trajectory. The more predictable those two aspects are the better your feel. The better your feel the lower the scores...Predictability folks! that is the key to lower scores!
