Want to post some feedback based on a lesson I had with Chuck yesterday at Sugarloaf. I traveled to Orlando from Tennessee Friday night for the lesson and returned home today on an early flight.

Lets just say the lesson was great. My golf swing is not. I spent several hours working one-on-one with Chuck and it will help me tremendously. I have a lot of work to do but at least I know now what I need to work on. Chuck was able to immediately identify several issues with my swing that, once I saw them on video and he pointed them out, were pretty apparent. I, of course, never would have identified these on my own.

After the lesson Chuck and I played 18 holes. His afternoon lesson canceled and it was a pretty day so I got lucky enough to play with Chuck. Needless to say, Chuck is quite a golfer and can truly pound the golf ball. I did, however, hit it inside of him on 18 and do not plan to let him forget that anytime soon.

All in all a great experience that I plan to repeat before too long. Well worth the trip.

Martin is truly a fine golfer in the making. We focused on a couple key things which started with setup. His tendency was to let his hips slide out on the backswing, so we altered his setup to assist with this. After altering the setup, he had a tendency to get his spine leaning toward the target so that was what we tackled next. The last image on the right is where he's heading with his swing. He hit a lot of great shots yesterday, and yes, including the perfect wedge shot on 18 after hitting balls for 4 hours in the morning!

Sounds like good progress and the pictures do show better positions.  What did you alter in his setup so that his hips would not slide out on the backswing?  I know I have a tendency to do this with my old swing (haven't hit anyballs yet after working on the training stuff without a club for the last couple of weeks), but I also felt that was b/c I wasn't rotating with my upper body on the backswing and moving my hips off the get go.  That has been my biggest obstacle.  I would be curiousl to see what change in the setup led to this though for Martin.

Chuck,

I want to thank you for all you do for us struggling with our swings. I joined about a month ago and practiced in front of mirror every day. I had gotten my handicap down to a 5 last summer, but am very inconsistent. I went on my annual golf trip to Lauderdale last week, having not played for a month, just using your videos and shot a 74 first day on course I have not played before. I and my buddies were truly amazed at that and the fact I got my distance back on driver. I had lost 25 - 30 yards by end of season, but I out drove my buddies 20 - 40 yards everytime.

I did have another round at 79, some in 80's after that, but I think old hadbits die hard, I always fight hooking irons. I did play a different course each day there also.

I want to send video as soon as I can get one made to use your online lesson plan.

thanks again

We had to get his hips bumped laterally toward the target so he felt much more on his left side at address.

ahh the little hip bump to the left.  I remember that in the setup video.  Makes sense now.
