Chuck,
I noticed that in Tiger's swing, he swings his elbow back on the elbow plane and brings it down on the shaft plane. Your swings take it back and down on the elbow plane. Is this difference because of tiger's dip on the downswing? You spoke about this elbow plane in an old video. Is this plane still relevent to you?
Thanks,
Jim

Tiger shallows out more than I do because he rotates less by pulling from the left side than I do. I'm working on taking this out of my swing at the moment.

Chuck, You said Tiger rotates less, is that his hips that rotate less? I am confused about the hip action on the downswing. How can you slow down the hip turn and at the same time pull from the left as hard as you want? It looks like both you and Tiger try to minimize hip rotation up until impact so the club can get down in front. Can you get your left hip to far back on the downswing by pulling to hard?

His torso rotates less and his arms stay more in front. The thing you have to understand about the hips turning as hard as you can is that everything must speed up to match them. If you rip your hips around, your arms have to move faster to avoid getting stuck and must be in front of the body. This is difficult to do as the hips only need to move 8 inches in the same time the hands need to move 6 feet, so it's easy to get stuck.

Chuck,
To continue this thought, the TV guys always say "look how he cleared his hips early", or look how he drops it in the slot on the downswing on a different plane.
I also heard Hank Haney last night say he switched Tiger's grip from in the fingers to more in palm with left hand.
Your comments on this issues please.

Simple.
Anything you hear from a golf "commentator" on TV, ignore it.

Sholley-
Did you happen to catch the DTL view of Haney's swing they showed? I did and rewound and slowed it down. He was very flat going back, ripping his arms deep right off the bat and then coming OTT to bunt out a fade.
It really is a question of "Physician, heal thyself."

I may go for it or I may not. It all depends on what I elect to do on my backswing.

There's a video Haney shanking it on Youtube from an "instructional" clip a couple weeks back and hitting a big pull slice in a Schwab video. If you watched the last episode of the "project", they showed him hit one tee ball which was a dead over the top yank and appeared to be slicing back.

Haney even critisized Ray Romano's setup because his weight was "too far back onto his heels" in the second episode. He has yet to say anything of substance from an instructional standpoint. That includes the Barkley episodes, too. That's probably why Romano feels like he isn't going to get better anytime soon...he is not sure 'how' to correct what Haney is telling him he does wrong.

Must be tough for Tiger to take instruction from a guy he could beat 5&4 left-handed.
